Letter: Strowbridge thankful for 25 years of support for local childcare business

Dear Editor:
Thank you for allowing Kids World to serve you for 25 years.
I want to say thank you to God, family, parents, staff and the community for allowing Kids World Learning Center in Wadley to serve you for 25 years.
The story begins in the year 1992 when I saw the need for an educational early childcare program to prepare our children for school. I then prepared myself by continuing my education and receiving my credentials in early childhood from Swainsboro Tech. and the University of Georgia. I registered my home with the state childcare division Agency and got started in my son’s bedroom with six children.
During this time my passion working with children grew more and so did my waiting list. I saw there was a great need to expand to a larger place that would provide more space for more children to learn, grow and play.
I learned that the city of Wadley had USDA business startup funds under Mayor B.A. Johnson’s leadership. I submitted my proposal and it was approved. I was able to use the funds for construction of the facility and Kids World Learning Center was licensed by the state for additional capacity of 25 children which included an afterschool program. I was able repay the loan back to the city in a 10-year installment plan.
I am so grateful for the opportunity and all who have helped me invest in the lives of children and provide jobs to the community for 25 years. It is good to know that our childcare program has impacted and made a difference in the lives of many children that we have served.
We invited our children, parents, staff, family and community to come celebrate our 25 year anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at our location at 282 MLK in Wadley.
I also want to thank the sponsors who helped with the door prizes and hospitality; Mayor Harold Moore, John Tubby Maye, Cathy Mitchell, John Duty, Bobbie Fann and Charles Robins. And a special thanks to all of the family, friends, parents and community who came out to make the day so special.
Thank you,
Dorothy Strowbridge,
