JCHS summer school
Jefferson County High School will offer summer school classes June 5 - June 29, Mondays through Thursdays ( no class on Fridays), from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fees: $200 for in-county students, $400 for out of county students (cash or money order, no personal checks). Registration will start May 17. Call Debbie James at (478) 625-9991 for questions.

Jeff. Co. Recreation registrations
The Jefferson County Recreation Department is currently holding registration for Gymnastics for age 18 months to 8-years old. Practices will be the four Mondays in June. Registration deadline is June 1.
Karate registrations are taken all year.  Practice is on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Students must be at least 6 years old to participate.

Hunter Education Course
DNR and the Jefferson County 4H are working together to offer a Hunter Education Course May 24, from 8 a.m. to 4:30  p.m. at the Extension/4-H Office.  Learn fire arm safety and ethics, conservation, tree stand safety and basic first aid.   Register on line at www.gohuntgeorgia.com.  For more information please call 478-625-3046.

Garden Club holds Youth Flower Show
The Louisville Garden Club is sponsoring a Youth Flower Show for all Jefferson County students in 5th-12th grades on Friday, April 28, at 4 p.m. at the Jefferson County Extension/4-H Office. All material will be provided; and, the winning arrangements will be on display at the Spring Art Show in downtown Louisville April 28-30. Glascock Co. Historical Society meeting
The Glascock County Historical Society will hold a program on The Twin Scandals of Early Georgia:The Great Yazoo Fraud and The Pine Barrens Speculation. During the April 6 meeting, attendees will hear author William Rawlings speak on these fascinating events drawn from our shared past.  The meeting will be held at the Glascock County Community Center (Braswell Park) at 7 p.m.

WMS beauty pageant
Wrens Middle School will hold its annual beauty pageant on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Recreation Department registration deadlines
Registration at the Jefferson County Recreation Department in Louisville is going on for the following sports:
• T-ball: Must be 3 by May 1; open to girls/boys age 3 and 4; fee is $35; Deadline is March 15.
• Coach Pitch: Must be 6 by May 1; open to girls/boys age 5 and 6; fee is $35; Deadline is March 15.  
• Softball: Must have been 7 by Jan. 1; open to girls ages 7 and up; fee is $34; Deadline is March 15. 
• Baseball: Must be 7 by May 1; open to boys ages 7 and up.

WellCare invites you to their Baby Shower Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m.to noon and a Women’s Health Medicaid Workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Jefferson Hospital Classroom. TJA PTO offers Sunday dinner
Thomas Jeffferson Academy’s PTO will offer Sunday dinner Feb. 12 and will begin serving at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes: fried chicken, ham, mashed potato casserole, broccoli casserole, green beans, cream corn, mac and cheese, deviled eggs, congealed salads, homemade desserts and tea. Dinners are $10/adults and $5/10 years and under.
 
American Legion meeting
American Legion Post 229 will meet on Monday night, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., at Peggy’s Restaurant.  All veterans are invited.

Feral Hog Control Program

Alcohol and Drug Awareness Class
Alcohol and Drug Awareness Class will be held Thursday, Jan. 12 at 3:15 p.m. in the Health Room at Jefferson County High School. Please sign up with Mrs. James in the Counselor’s office.  Office number is (478) 625-9991, Ext. 116. This class will be not be offered again until May 2017.
