Mrs. Gladys “Annie” Swint Hawkins
Mrs. Gladys “Annie” Swint Hawkins, 79, of Augusta entered into rest on Monday, July 5, 2010.

Mrs. Hawkins was born on Sept. 9, 1930, and was a native of Stapleton, and had resided in Augusta since 1945. She was a member of Abilene Baptist Church in Augusta.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son, with Rev. Brian Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Walden United Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera at 4 p.m.

Survivors include her husband, Hunter Hawkins; daughters, Sandra Diane Robertson (Mark) of Martinez, Phyllis Hawkins (Tommy Suhor) of Beaufort, S.C., and Deborah McElmurray (Earl) of Hephzibah; sons, Robert Hawkins (Patty) of Hephzibah, Mark Hawkins of Evans; sister, Faye Smith (Lamar) of Martinez; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bob McElmurray, James Lanier, Heath Schondelmayer, Daniel McElmurray, Bobby Hawkins and David Schondelmayer.

Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.


Mr. William Henry Parrish Jr.
Mr. William Henry Parrish Jr. of New York, N.Y., entered into rest on June 28, 2010.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at John and Alavan Ganer Memorial Chapel, Garrer Funeral Home, Louisville.

Garrer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Shirley Ann Vickery
Mrs. Shirley Ann Vickery, 63, of Waynesboro entered into rest on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Burke Medical Center.

Mrs. Vickery was born Dec. 29, 1946, in Richmond County. She attended First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010, at DeLoach-McKerly Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Ernest Gay; and mother, Vivian Earline Gay Barrow.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd O. Vickery Jr.; son, Floyd O. “Trey” Vickery III (Monika) of Sardis; daughter, Kim Vickery (Patrick) of Sardis; father, John Turner Barrow of Waynesboro; three brothers, John Barrow (Ollie) of Hephzibah, Larry Barrow of Wrens, and David Eugene Barrow of Wrens; and six grandchildren, Chris Vickery, Angel Vickery, T. J. Vickery, Jasmine Vickery, Callie Johnson and Adrian Johnson.

Pallbearers were William Vickery, Donovan Vickery, David Bowles, Mike McGahee, Timmy Jackson and John Barrow.

DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.


Mr. William R. Wilcher
Mr. William R. Wilcher, 65, of Norwood entered into rest on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the McDuffie County Regional Medical Center in Thomson.

Services were held on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Mitchell, with Pastor Rev. Louis Neal as eulogist. Burial was in church cemetery.

Survivors include her three sisters, Pauline Baker of Mitchell, Rosa Mae Gibson of Augusta, and Josie Gatson of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Ollie WIlcher Jr. of Chicago, Ill.
