GEORGIA GLASCOCK COUNTY PRESENTMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE AUGUST 2010 TERM OF THE GRAND JURY We, the members of Glascock County Grand Jury for the August Term 2010, having been duly sworn on August 16, 2010, in open court by Judge Roger W. Dunaway, do herewith submit the following: We would like to thanks the Honorable Roger W. Dunaway for his excellent charge to the jurors. We would also like to thanks District Attorney Dennis Sanders and Assistant District Attorney Kevin Majeska for directing and advising this body in matters of law. We, the Grand Jury appointed Hollis James Chalker as foreperson, Cynthia Stephens Culpepper, as clerk, and Jeremy Kelley as Bailiff. The Grand Jury was not able to meet in the designated Grand Jury room because the air conditioner was not working. We would recommend that the heating and air be checked prior to its use to insure functioning and to avoid delays in our court system. The Grand Jury has been made aware that the drive in the front of the Fire Station is in constant need of repair. It is our recommendation that this be addressed by either paving or maintenance to ensure that the drive is passable at all times for emergency vehicles. It is also the recommendation of this Grand Jury that the road from Brassell Park to the Senior Center be repaired. Members of the Grand Jury noticed during the recent elections that the areas around the polling locations were in need of grass cutting and parking lot repairs. This was particularly noticeable in the Mill District polling site. The Mill District air conditioning was not sufficient during Election days and we would recommend that this be addressed. The Grand Jury would recommend that the grass be cut and parking lots for all polling locations be repaired prior to election days. It is the recommendation that the number of County Commissioners be increased from three to five members. The Grand Jury feels that this would afford the citizens better representation to the citizens from our County Commissioners. We, the Grand Jury, fix the per diem rate for Grand and Traverse jurors for 2001 at twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day. We, the Grand Jury, fix the per diem rate for Bailiff(s) for 2011 twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day. We , the Grand Jury, have received the sworn receipts and disbursements from the Court of Probate , the Clerk of Court, Sheriff’s Department, and the Treasurer. We have examined the same and have found them to be correct and hereby endorse our approval. The Grand Jury has received and examined the annual report of the Child Abuse Protocol Committee as required under Section 19-15-2 of the official Code of Georgia. BOARD OF TAX EQUALIZATION: We, the duly constituted Grand Jury of Glascock County for the August Term 2010, in accordance with Section 48-5-311 of the Official Code of Georgia, do hereby appoint the following named person to the Glascock County Board of Equalization as as a Member for the term starting January 1, 2011 and ending December 31, 2013.
