CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION FOR 24th STATE SENATE DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that a special election shall be held in Columbia County, Glascock C o u n t y , L i n c o l n C o u n t y , McDuffie County, and Wilkes County and portions of Elbert County and Warren County on June 19, 2007, to fill the unexpired term of the Honorable Jim Whitehead, State Senator, District 24, seat vacated. A run-off election, if needed, shall be held on July 17, 2007.

Qualifying for the special election shall be held in the Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 1104 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-1505. The dates and h o u r s o f q u a l i f y i n g w i l l b e Tuesday, May 8, 2007 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007 beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m., and Thursday, May 10, 2007 beginning at 8 : 0 0 a . m . a n d e n d i n g a t 1 2 o'clock noon. The qualifying fee shall be $400.00.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election must register to vote before the close of business on May 21, 2007. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.
