Mr. Calvin Spear, age 83, of Bartow died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Spear was a native of Glascock County and was retired from the Department of Transportation.
The funeral was Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Jordan Chapel Church Cemetery in Edgehill.
Survivors include two daughters, Jerolene Josey, Bartow, and Marilyn Hattaway Hillman, Bainbridge; one sister, Blanche Stavely, Bartow; four grandchildren, Renee Josey, Louisville, Tine Josey Coleman, Bartow, Scottie Hattaway, Waycross and Amanda Hattaway Bessada, Cumming; four great-grandchildren, Ashlee Coleman, Bailie Coleman, Colby Coleman, all of Bartow, and Madison Grace Hattaway, Waycross.
Pallbearers were Jerry Josey, John Coleman, Scottie Hattaway, John Mark Bessada, Richard Stavely and Hubert Cheeks.
Honorary pallbearers were DOT employees.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Jerry Hadden, 67, of Avera died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at University Hospital.
Mr. Hadden, a native of Jefferson County, served in the Army. He was retired from Deerfield Papermill where he worked for over forty years.
The funeral was Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Thigpen officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Arrington Hadden; one son, Eric Hadden and his wife, Kerry, Matthews; one brother, Troy Hadden, Avera; four sisters, Lois Leeland, Ms. Betty Irby, Mary Rooks, Barbara Sammons, all of Avera; and four grandchildren, Jacob Hadden, Katelyn Phillips, Isaac Phillips, and Johnathan Phillips.
Pallbearers were Charles Walden, Bobby Williams, Lucius Thigpen, Robert Mathis, C.S. Anderson, Clayton Johnson and Dan Chalker.
James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
