Willis B. Gilmore Sr.
Mr. Willis B. Gilmore Sr. of Louisville died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Gilmore, a native of Washington County, moved to Louisville in 1998. He was a member of Neeler AME Church in Davisboro. He worked for many years and retired from the Holmes Canning Company in Sandersville.
The funeral was Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Neeler African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Revs. Henry Tanner and Carl Johnson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Mae Gilmore, Louisville; his children, Lucille Robinson, Queen, N.Y., Gwen (Curtis) Thompson, Phyillis (Curt) Davis and Willis B. Gilmore Jr., Louisville, Waymon (Elnora) Jefferson and Pam (Dennard) Branon, Jacksonville, Fla., Daisy (Dale) Battle, Wrens, Gloria (Wiley) Watts, Sandersville; four sisters, Mary (Walter) Horton, Atlanta, Dorothy Gilmore and Delois Smith, Augusta, and Anita Carlyle, Davisboro; two brothers, Griffin Gilmore, Augusta, and Roy Gilmore, New Jersey; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one grand-daughter-in-law, three sisters-in-law, one daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bobby Paul, 64, of Wrens died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. Paul, a native of Jefferson County, was a meat cutter at Hadden's Grocery Store for over 30 years. He was a Baptist.
Graveside services were Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Race Lariscy officiating.
Survivors include his mother, Beatrice Paul, Louisville; a brother, Ray Paul, Harlem; two nieces and one nephew.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Hadden's IGA Grocery Stores.
James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Sarah Jean Smith
Mrs. Sarah Jean Smith of North Augusta, S.C., died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Smith, a native of Jefferson County, was retired from Seminole Mills and Aiken Industries. She was a member of Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was active with the Senior's group and Cub Scout Pack #351. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Randolph Johnson.
The funeral was Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gene Brown, Buster Youngblood and Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery, Gibson.
Survivors include her husband, William E. "Bill" Smith Sr.; her daughters, Toni and Charles Fennell, Augusta, Terri and Mike Lyons, North Augusta, and Tina and Larry Kuhn, Gloverville, S.C.; her son, William E. "Billy" Jr. and Sherry Smith, North Augusta; her sisters, Joanne Hadden, Augusta, and Deborah Jackson, Crawfordville; her brothers, Dennis Johnson, Batesburg, S.C., and Jamie Johnson, Watkinsville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Hamien, Matthew Johnson, Robert Gay, Richard Pennington, Ken Stanley and Robert Workman.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Cub Scout Pack #351.
Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, S.C., was in charge of the arrangements.
