Ruby Mae Fields Mountain
Mrs. Ruby Mae Fields Mountain, 80, of Bartow died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Mountain, a native of Jefferson County, was the widow of the Isaac Mountain Sr. and a member of Ebenezer CME Church.

The funeral was Aug. 21 at Ebenezer CME Church and Cemetery with Pastor Darryl Walker officiating.

Survivors include her mother, Peocola Fields, Louisville; her children, Theodis Mountain, Willie Mae Mountain and Idella Mountain, Bartow, Dannye Mountain, Augusta, Isaac Mountain Jr., Wadley and Linda Dixon, Louisville; siblings, Vaster Lee Jordan and Martha Brown, Louisville, Cora Flournoy and Mack Fields, Bartow, Elizabeth Fields, Betty Fields, Rosa Prince and Annie Dorothy Carter, New York, NY; three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, one brother-in-law, 33 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.



Jeanette Elizabeth Moore
Mrs. Jeanette Elizabeth Moore, 85, of Wadley died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Glendale Nursing Home.

Mrs. Moore, a native of Washington County, had lived in Wadley for the past 70 years. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and a resident of Glendale Nursing Home for the past eight years.

The funeral was Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church with Gary Hutchins and the Rev. Ray Garren officiating. Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Leniece (J.D.) Hickox, Patterson, Barbara (Jerry) Powell, Wadley, and Debra (Joe) Adams, Vidalia; three sons, James W. "Billy" (Glenda) Moore, Mableton, Charles "Rick" (Chyrle) Moore, Wadley, and Tim (Sherry) Moore, Rainbow City, Ala.; a brother, Olen Price, Wrightsville; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jody Powell, Mitchell Powell, Ronnie Hickox, Tony Moore, Ricky Moore, T.J. Moore, Brent Moore and Chris Adams.

Memorials may be made to the St. Johns United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Gary W. Ware, 1130 St. Johns Church Rd., Wadley, GA 30477, in memory of Mrs. Moore.

Annie Bell Hudson
Ms. Annie Bell Hudson of Augusta died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at the Medical College of Georgia.

The funeral was Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. at Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Thornton officiating. Burial was in Southview Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Walker, Arlington, Va., and Scott Walker, Augusta; one daughter, Kellee Walker, Augusta; one brother, William Earl Lanzeby, Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Gladys O'Neal, Augusta; one step daughter-in-law, Ruby Hudson, Wrens; five step-grandchildren, Theodis (Josephine) Hudson Jr., Wrens, Christine (James) Hudson Allen, Augusta, Mattie Robinson, Augusta, Thomas James Hudson, Wrens, and Johnny Lee (Alicia) Hudson, Macon.

Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.



D. Billie Newman Edwards
Mrs. D. Billie Newman Edwards, 82, of Augusta died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003.

Mrs. Edwards, a lifelong resident of Augusta, was retired from University Hospital. She was a member of Mize Memorial United Methodist Church, Mize-Walters Sunday School class, Bayvale Homemakers, Sunrisers and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh L. Newman and Walter D. Edwards, and her sisters, Sarah Beasley, Adeline Ivey and Patsy Loner.

The funeral was Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Heard officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include six daughters, Rae Muze, Jeanne (Chuck) Szakacs, Linda (Richard) Sabo, Frankie (Jamie) Rushton, Debbie (Wayne) Carver and Mae (Marion) Turner; two sons, Michael "Bunky" (Jackie) Newman and Jim Newman; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bryan Adams, Sherwood Merrell, Howard Cawley, Wayne Holton, Frank Muza and Lloyd Malcolm.

Memorials may be made to Mize Memorial United Methodist Church, 302 Barrow Dr., Augusta, Ga. 30906.

Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.



William Melton Shivers
Mr. William Melton Shivers, 63, of Louisville died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at St. Petersburg General Hospital.

The funeral will be Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, North Warrior Palm Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Shivers; daughter, LaVon Shivers (Archie Wells Jr.), Louisville; siblings, Henry Shivers, Mt. Vernon, Ruby Jordan and Clarence Gibbons, St. Petersburg; two aunts, Cora McCall, Wrens and Nerisa Durden, Avera; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Zion Hill Mortuary, St. Petersburg, and Davis Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.



J.D. "Jake" Peavy Jr.
Mr. J.D. "Jake" Peavy Jr., 66, of Mitchell died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003.

Mr. Peavy was a native of Dooley County and a Navy veteran.

A memorial service was held Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. at Sheppard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Davis officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Kitchens Peavy, Mitchell; five daughters, Cindy Collier, Perry, Lisa O'Neal, Naples, Fla., Sherry Peavy, Warner Robbins, Cynthia Stone, Forest Park and Shirley Pulliam, Mitchell; and seven grandchildren.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.



Eunice Shoultz
Mrs. Eunice Shoultz of Bartow died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003.

The funeral was held on Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. at Jones Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Mack Thomas officiating.

Survivors include two sons, Rufus Shoultz, Philadelphia, Pa., and Mack Arthur Shoultz, Marlton, NJ; two daughters, Joann Flournoy, Turnersville, NJ, and Cratis Scales, Fuquay Springs, NC; two sisters, Mozell Smith, Bartow, and Lish Mae Pringle, NY; 21 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.



Mary Walden Hogan
Mrs. Mary Walden Hogan, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Brentwood Terrence Health Center in Waynesboro.

Mrs. Hogan, a native of Burke County, was a member of Roberson Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

The funeral was Aug. 14 at Roberson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Lewis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her cousins, Liza Josey, Rosier, Charlie and Bobbie Jean Josey, Augusta, Nathaniel and Susie Neely, Bartow, Katrina Washington, Hempstead, NY; nephew, Hubert Walden, Louisville and a host of other relatives.
