Jere Wasden Lewis
Mrs. Jere Wasden Lewis, 53, of Louisville died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Augusta. She was a homemaker and a member of Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

The funeral was July 13 at 6 p.m. at the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Hendrick officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Samuel Lewis; three children, Jonathan Samuel (Margaret) Lewis, Joy Meadows Lewis and Matthew William Lewis; her parents, James Wasden and Elaine Fortner Butler; a brother, James Wasden, and half-siblings, Doug Wasden, Brad Wasden and Jena Wasden Farrow.

Memorials may be made to the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Jere Lewis Memorial Fund for Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Russell B. Caughey Sr.
Mr. Russell B. Caughey Sr. of Wadley died Tuesday, July 1, 2003.

A memorial service was held on July 3 at 4 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. David O. Davis officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Caughey; two sons, Brent Lawson, Palm City, Fla., and Russell B. Caughey Jr., Bartow; and four grandchildren, Mesha Lawson, Brent Lawson Jr., Tylor Rae Caughey and Russell (Trey) B. Caughey III.

Johnny Brown
Mr. Johnny Brown, 54, of Augusta died Monday, July 7, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Brown, a native of Avery, was a sales representative at American Concrete and formerly the plant manager at Claussen Concrete. He served in the Georgia National Guard for six years.

The funeral was July 10 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial was at Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Helen Brown, Avera; a daughter, Shannon Brown (Steve) Jenkins, Martinez; a brother, Ken Brown, Auburn, Ala.; two sisters, Carol B. Logan, Greenville and Caren B. Skinner, Avera; and a granddaughter, Scarlett Jenkins.

Pallbearers were Bobby Ownes, E.R. Hughes, James Hutton, Billy Brantley, Toney Heard, Ken Ashe, Gene Brown, Paul Brown and Dr. Roger Brown.

Memorials may be made to the Walden Cemetery Fund, 5837 Hwy. 88 West, Stapleton, GA 30823.

Gladys Mae Sanders Smith Williams
Mrs. Gladys Mae Sanders Smith Williams of Wadley died on July 9, 2003, at her residence in Wadley.

The funeral was July 15, 2003, at 3 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church in Wadley with the Rev. Kenneth Davis officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Luther Williams; one son, Eddie James Smith, Patterson, NJ; two daughters, Alice Smith, Wadley, and Venette Williams Cobb, Midville; three sisters, Marion White, Wadley, Gaynell Sanders, Louisville and Alice Barge, Trenton, NJ; and three brothers, Wayne Sanders Jr. and Roy Sanders, Swainsboro, and Charles Sanders, Burlington, NJ.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
